Mobile App Development for US Startups and Businesses

Native and cross-platform iOS and Android apps built for American users, App Store review, ADA accessibility expectations and US payment habits, by an India-based team.

Mobile App Development for the United States

Mobile App Development, built around how the United States works

iPhone holds a large share of the US smartphone market, so most American apps launch on iOS and Android together or iOS first, and users judge them against apps from very well-funded competitors. Nexzem builds native apps in Swift and Kotlin and cross-platform apps in React Native or Flutter from Dehradun, India, working remotely with US founders through shared boards, TestFlight builds and sprint demos timed for your morning.

A US launch adds work beyond screens and APIs: accessibility that holds up against ADA demand letters, privacy disclosures that match App Store privacy labels and state privacy laws, HIPAA safeguards when the app touches health records, and payments through Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay or ACH. This page covers how we handle each one. For time zones, contracts and billing, see working with us from the US.

Getting through App Store and Google Play review

Apple reviews every iOS build against its App Review Guidelines, and the common rejections are predictable: no way to delete an account inside the app, third-party login without an equivalent privacy-focused option, vague purpose strings for camera or location access, and digital goods sold outside in-app purchase where the rules require it. US rules on linking to external payment have changed after litigation, so we check the current guidelines for your storefront before designing checkout.

Google Play requires a completed Data safety form, a recent target API level and, for new personal developer accounts, a closed test with real testers before production access. We prepare store listings, privacy labels, demo accounts for reviewers and phased rollouts, so the first US release is not held up by paperwork. App store optimization for US keywords is planned alongside.

Accessibility and health data in US apps

ADA demand letters can cite mobile apps as well as websites. We build to WCAG Level AA: VoiceOver and TalkBack labels on every control, Dynamic Type and Android font scaling without broken layouts, sufficient contrast, touch targets of at least 44 by 44 points on iOS, and no meaning carried by color alone. Mobile app testing includes screen reader passes on real devices before each release.

Health and wellness apps need an early decision on HIPAA. If you are a covered entity or build for one, PHI must stay in HIPAA-eligible services under a BAA, push notifications must not reveal health details on a locked screen, and analytics SDKs must never receive PHI. If HIPAA does not apply, the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule may, and state privacy laws still govern the data.

US payments and integrations

Payment design depends on what you sell. Physical goods and real-world services can charge cards directly through Stripe or Braintree, while digital content and subscriptions used inside the app generally go through Apple and Google billing, subject to the current US storefront rules. These are the integrations US apps ask for most often:

  • Stripe or Braintree for cards, with Apple Pay and Google Pay wallets
  • ACH bank payments and account linking through Plaid
  • StoreKit and Google Play Billing subscriptions, often managed with RevenueCat
  • Twilio for SMS verification and two-factor codes
  • US address autocomplete and validation through Google Places or Smarty
  • Stripe Tax or Avalara when the app sells taxable physical goods

What our mobile app development covers

Native and cross-platform iOS and Android apps built for real users, from first MVP to scale.

  1. 01

    iOS App Development

Swift and SwiftUI apps that follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, support current iOS releases, and clear App Store review without repeated rejections.

  2. 02

    Android App Development

Kotlin apps tested across screen sizes and Android versions, tuned for the low-memory devices many of your users in India and abroad still carry.

  3. 03

    Cross-Platform Apps

One Flutter or React Native codebase for iOS and Android, cutting build and maintenance effort while keeping smooth scrolling, animations and device access.

  4. 04

    MVP Development

A focused first release with the few features that prove demand, structured so it can grow into the full product without a costly rewrite.

  5. 05

    Offline-First Apps

Local storage and background sync so field staff, delivery riders and rural users keep working when the network drops, with changes uploaded later.

  6. 06

    Payments and Notifications

Razorpay, Stripe, in-app purchases and push notifications wired in with proper receipts, retries and opt-in handling that meets each platform's rules.

  7. 07

    App Modernisation

Rebuild or refactor an ageing app, fix crash hotspots, update the SDKs the stores now require, and migrate users without losing any of their data.

  8. 08

    App Store Launch

Store listings, screenshots, privacy labels, signing certificates and staged rollouts handled for you, so launch day is not spent fighting review queues.

How a project runs

Clear stages with a review at the end of each, so you always know what happens next and what it costs.

  1. 01

    Discovery and Scope

We map users, core flows and integrations, then agree a feature list, platform choice and fixed quote.

  2. 02

    Clickable Prototype

Wireframes become a tappable prototype you can show users and investors before any code is written.

  3. 03

    Sprint Development

Two-week sprints with a test build each cycle, code review on every change, and automated tests on core flows.

  4. 04

    QA on Real Devices

Functional, performance and battery testing across a device list that matches your audience.

  5. 05

    Launch and Support

Store submission, staged rollout, crash monitoring and a support plan for updates and new features.

Mobile App Development in USA, answered

Something else on your mind? Ask a consultant and get a reply within one business day.

Should a US startup build native or cross-platform?

Cross-platform suits most MVPs and content, commerce or booking apps, because one codebase ships to both stores. Native Swift and Kotlin make sense for heavy graphics, deep hardware access or apps where platform polish is the product. Our native vs cross-platform comparison and Flutter vs React Native guide cover the trade-offs.

Will the app be published under our own developer accounts?

Yes, and we recommend it. Apps should live in your company's Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts so you control listings, revenue and reviews. Apple's organization enrollment needs a D-U-N-S number, which can take time to obtain, so we start that step during discovery rather than in launch week.

How much does it cost to build an app for the US market?

It depends on platforms, features, integrations and compliance needs, such as HIPAA or payments. Our app cost calculator gives a rough range in a few minutes, and after a discovery call you receive a fixed quote or team estimate broken down by milestone.

How do you test on the devices US users actually own?

We test on physical iPhones and Android phones across several OS versions, then widen coverage with cloud device farms such as BrowserStack or AWS Device Farm. Test plans weight the device mix toward what your analytics or target audience shows, and every release candidate goes to your team through TestFlight and Play internal testing.
