UI/UX Design for UK Products and Services

Research with UK users, accessible design to WCAG 2.2 and journeys that hold up to Consumer Duty and ICO scrutiny, with reviews during your working day.

UI/UX Design for the United Kingdom

UI/UX Design, built around how the United Kingdom works

UK users notice when a product was not designed for them: a ZIP code field where a postcode belongs, a US-style date, a price without VAT, a cookie banner that hides the reject button. Nexzem's designers in India overlap with UK office hours for workshops and reviews, and produce research, wireframes, prototypes and design systems in Figma.

UK design also carries regulatory weight. Accessibility claims rest on the Equality Act 2010, the FCA's Consumer Duty asks regulated firms to evidence that customers understand their products, and the ICO judges consent designs. Our UX research and customer experience design work treats these as design inputs rather than late-stage reviews.

Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 and GOV.UK patterns

We design to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, including its newer criteria on focus not being obscured, minimum target size and accessible authentication without memory tests. For public sector and government-adjacent services we use GOV.UK Design System patterns, which have been researched with a wide range of users, and prepare designs for a service assessment. Our glossary covers web accessibility basics.

UK research and localization

We recruit UK participants through panels such as UserTesting, Maze or Prolific and run moderated sessions in UK working hours. Regional differences are covered where they matter, such as separate Scottish and Welsh public services or bilingual Welsh content. UK formats, from postcodes and DD/MM/YYYY dates to VAT-inclusive prices, are written into every component specification.

What our UI/UX design covers

User research, interface design and design systems for web and mobile products people find easy to use.

  1. 01

    UX Strategy and Flows

User journeys, task flows and information architecture that define how people move through your product before visual design begins.

  2. 02

    Wireframing

Low-fidelity layouts that settle structure, content priority and navigation quickly, so feedback focuses on function rather than colours.

  3. 03

    Mobile App UI Design

iOS and Android interfaces that respect platform conventions, thumb reach and small screens while staying true to your brand.

  4. 04

    Web and SaaS UI Design

Dashboards, data tables, forms and settings screens designed for clarity, including the empty, loading and error states most designs forget.

  5. 05

    Design Systems

Reusable Figma components, tokens and usage guidelines that keep design consistent and speed up both designers and developers.

  6. 06

    UX Audit

A heuristic review of an existing product that highlights usability issues with annotated screenshots and a prioritised list of fixes.

  7. 07

    Accessible Design

Contrast, focus states, touch targets and readable type designed to WCAG guidelines from the very first wireframe onwards.

  8. 08

    Developer Handoff

Annotated Figma files, specs, assets and design reviews during development, so the built product matches the approved design.

How a project runs

Clear stages with a review at the end of each, so you always know what happens next and what it costs.

  1. 01

    Discover

Stakeholder and user interviews, analytics review and a competitor scan.

  2. 02

    Define

Personas, journeys, information architecture and key flows.

  3. 03

    Design

Wireframes, then high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes in Figma.

  4. 04

    Validate

Usability tests on key flows, followed by design revisions.

  5. 05

    Handoff and Support

Design system, specs and ongoing reviews during development.

UI/UX Design in UK, answered

Something else on your mind? Ask a consultant and get a reply within one business day.

Can you design bilingual English and Welsh services?

Yes. Layouts are built for a language switch and for text that runs longer in Welsh, with both languages tested in prototypes. Translation itself should come from your qualified Welsh translators, and we design the content workflow so both versions stay in step after launch.

Can you audit our existing product for accessibility?

Yes. We review designs and the live product against WCAG 2.2 AA, test with keyboard and screen readers, and deliver issues ranked by user impact with suggested fixes. See our accessibility testing service; public sector bodies can use the findings to update their accessibility statement.

How do your designers collaborate with our UK product team?

Through shared Figma files, a weekly design review and short daily check-ins during overlapping hours. Comments left in Figma during your afternoon are usually addressed the next Indian morning, before your day starts. Larger workshops run over video with a digital whiteboard such as FigJam or Miro.
