Software, App and AI Development for UK Businesses
An India-based team that shares most of your working day, handles personal data the way UK GDPR expects and hands over code you fully own.
Sharing the UK working day across GMT and BST
India is 5.5 hours ahead of the UK in winter (GMT) and 4.5 hours ahead during British Summer Time, which runs from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. India does not change its clocks, so a 9:00 AM London stand-up is 1:30 PM IST in summer and 2:30 PM IST in winter. With the team working a slightly later Indian day, UK clients typically share their whole morning and much of the afternoon with developers, designers and the project lead. Bug reports raised after lunch in London are often fixed and deployed to staging before your day ends, and anything raised in the evening is picked up first thing in India, which is still before most UK offices open.

From Dehradun to London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow and Cambridge
Nexzem Technologies builds software, mobile apps and AI systems from Dehradun, India. We have no UK office or UK-registered entity. UK startups, scale-ups and agencies work with us remotely, and of all the time zones we work across, the UK has one of the easiest rhythms: your morning and early afternoon fall inside the Indian working day, so stand-ups, design reviews and quick decisions happen live without anyone working nights.
UK products carry their own expectations. Cookie banners have to satisfy PECR and ICO guidance, fintech journeys are judged against the FCA Consumer Duty, public sector services follow the GOV.UK Service Standard, and any data our engineers can see from India counts as an international transfer under UK GDPR. We plan for these in discovery rather than in the week before launch, whether the work is a web application, a regulated fintech app or an offshore development center.
Below you will find how hours line up across GMT and BST, the rules that most often shape UK software, how contracts and IP work with an Indian supplier, and the questions UK buyers ask before they commit.
Rules your product has to meet in the United Kingdom
General information, not legal advice. We design for these from the first sprint and work alongside your counsel on the specifics.
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
The core UK privacy framework: lawful basis, data minimization, DPIAs for high-risk processing and data subject rights, enforced by the ICO. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 amends parts of it, so check current ICO guidance. General information, not legal advice.
International transfers to India
India has no UK adequacy decision, and remote access to personal data from India is a restricted transfer. It is usually covered by the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU SCCs, plus a transfer risk assessment.
PECR: cookies and marketing
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations govern cookies, tracking pixels and marketing emails and texts. Non-essential cookies need consent, and the ICO expects rejecting to be as easy as accepting, which shapes banner design and tag loading.
FCA Consumer Duty
For FCA-regulated firms, the Consumer Duty requires good outcomes for retail customers, fair value and communications people understand. In software terms that means tested disclosures, no sludge in cancellation or complaints journeys and evidence of outcome monitoring.
Equality Act 2010 and accessibility regulations
Service providers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled users, and public sector bodies must meet WCAG under the 2018 accessibility regulations and publish an accessibility statement. WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the sensible target for most UK products.
Online Safety Act 2023
Services that host user-generated content or let users interact must assess illegal content and children's safety risks, and some need age assurance. Together with the ICO Children's code, this affects social, community and marketplace features.
Why teams in the United Kingdom choose Nexzem
Your morning is our working day
Daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and live debugging happen in normal hours on both sides, with no overnight shifts to keep up.
Transfer-aware data handling
UK-hosted environments, synthetic test data and logged, role-based production access keep the restricted transfer small and easy to document.
UK integrations as standard
Open Banking APIs, GoCardless, Xero, Sage, HMRC Making Tax Digital, Companies House and postcode lookup are familiar ground, not research tasks.
Copy and formats for UK users
British English spelling in product copy, DD/MM/YYYY dates, GBP formatting, VAT-inclusive pricing and UK address structures are set up from the first sprint.
Code and IP that are yours
Repositories live in your organization from day one and the contract assigns copyright in code, designs and documentation to you in writing.

Contracts, billing and IP for clients in the United Kingdom
How an engagement with an India-based team works when your company is in the United Kingdom.
Contracts under English law
An MSA and statement of work under the law of England and Wales, or Scotland, can be agreed, with the dispute route (courts or arbitration) chosen up front.
NDA and data processing terms
A mutual NDA comes before any detailed discussion. Where we touch personal data, a data processing agreement and transfer mechanism are signed alongside the contract.
Written copyright assignment
Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, a commissioned contractor keeps copyright unless it is assigned in writing, so our contracts assign it to you explicitly on payment.
Billing in GBP
Invoicing in GBP can be discussed. Fixed-scope work bills by milestone, dedicated teams monthly per seat, and time and material work against weekly timesheets.
VAT treatment
Business services bought from an overseas supplier are usually accounted for by the UK customer under the reverse charge. Your accountant should confirm the treatment for your business.

Questions from the United Kingdom
Something else on your mind? Ask a consultant and get a reply within one business day.
How do you handle UK GDPR when developers are in India?
Our team accessing your data from India is a restricted transfer, so we cover it with the IDTA or UK Addendum and a transfer risk assessment. Day to day, environments are hosted in UK cloud regions, developers work on synthetic or anonymized data, and production access is time-limited and logged. See our GDPR compliance services for the controls. This is general information, not legal advice.
Can the contract be governed by English law?
Yes. English law with the courts of England and Wales, or arbitration seated in London, are both common choices. The UK is a reciprocating territory under India's Code of Civil Procedure, so judgments of UK superior courts can be enforced in India, and arbitral awards are enforceable under the New York Convention. Take your own legal advice on the final terms.
What happens to meetings when the clocks change?
Meetings are anchored to UK time, because India does not move its clocks. When British Summer Time starts the meeting moves one hour earlier in IST, and it moves back in late October. The team calendar is set to Europe/London so nobody has to recalculate twice a year.
Can you build software for the NHS?
We can build to NHS requirements such as the Digital Technology Assessment Criteria, FHIR UK Core APIs, NHS login and the DCB0129 clinical risk standard. The manufacturer of record appoints a registered clinician as Clinical Safety Officer, and assurance sits with you, so we plan those roles at kickoff. Our healthcare software page covers typical builds.
Can your developers join our in-house UK team?
Yes. Through IT staff augmentation our engineers join your Slack, stand-ups, pull request reviews and sprint ceremonies, using your tooling and coding standards. You direct the work, and we handle hiring, equipment, retention and replacement if someone is not the right fit.
Do UK clients need to visit India?
No. Discovery workshops, design reviews and sprint demos run over video, with recordings and written notes for people who cannot attend. Many UK clients never meet the team in person and still get daily contact, because the shared working hours make live conversations easy.
Nexzem works with clients worldwide. This guide covers what is specific to the United Kingdom; the team, process and contracts are the same wherever your company is based.
